This concert features well-known pieces for trombone by Danish composers. Axel Jørgensen, Launy Grøndahl, and Søren Hyldgaard dedicated them to previous principal trombonists of two major orchestras in Copenhagen throughout the last 100 years, Anton Hansen, Vilhelm Aarkrogh, and Jesper Juul Sørensen. The final composer, Wayne Siegel transcribed his Jackdaw for the current professor of the conservatory in Aarhus, Niels-Ole Bo Johansen. Having studied with Johansen for over half a decade, he taught me about his research into Danish music firsthand.
